Why I'm never attending a séance again

Why I'm Never Attending A Séance Again

It was a chilly evening and I was feeling adventurous. My friends had invited me to attend a séance at a nearby haunted house, and despite my hesitation, I decided to give it a try. Oh, how I regret that decision!

The Setup

The house was dimly lit, and candles flickered on a small table in the center of the room. The medium sat at the head of the table, surrounded by my friends and a couple of strangers. I sat nervously in the corner, wondering what was about to unfold.

The medium began to speak in a hushed tone, inviting the spirits to communicate with us. Suddenly, the room grew colder, and I felt a chill run down my spine. I could sense that something was not right.

The Communication

The medium began to ask questions, and my friends eagerly awaited the responses. As the séance progressed, strange things began to happen. The candles flickered erratically, and objects on the table began to move on their own.

Eventually, the medium claimed to have made contact with a spirit. My friends were thrilled, but I was beginning to feel uneasy. I wanted to leave, but I didn't want to be rude.

The Aftermath

After the séance ended, my friends were buzzing with excitement. They claimed to have had an incredible experience and wanted to do it again. But I felt drained and disturbed. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about the whole thing.

I later learned that séances are often a form of trickery. Mediums use a variety of techniques to manipulate their audience and create the illusion of communicating with the dead. Some use cold reading, where they make general statements that could apply to anyone. Others use hot reading, where they research their audience beforehand and use that information to make it seem like they have supernatural powers.

The Bottom Line

While I'm not saying that all séances are fraudulent, I am saying that I personally will never attend one again. I don't want to be part of something that is potentially harmful and manipulative. I'd much rather spend my evenings doing something that brings me joy and comfort.

  • Watching a funny movie
  • Reading a good book
  • Spending time with loved ones

There are so many other ways to entertain ourselves and connect with each other that don't involve potentially dangerous or unethical practices.

The Moral Of The Story

So, what have I learned from this experience? Firstly, never let your friends talk you into something that makes you uncomfortable.

Secondly, don't believe everything you see or hear. Whether it's a séance, a psychic reading, or a ghost story, always be skeptical and ask questions.

And finally, always trust your gut. If something feels off, it probably is.

So, will I ever attend a séance again? Not a chance.
